Valentine’s Day is coming up and while we have never been one to go the route of roses and chocolate, we always have tried to do something thoughtful that included the children as I like to celebrate love in all its many forms on Valentine’s Day. Over the years we’ve had picnics in the snow, heart hand pies for dessert, dinner by candlelight and sometimes just a simple love gift given.

I thought it would be fun to make a little list of gifts for the gardener or flower lover! These are things either I have and love or something I’ve had my eye on for a long time.

- This heart shaped trowel by Sneeboer is as beautiful as it is indestructible. We’ve used ours for everything from digging between stones to, most recently, chipping ice away on our roof!
- Bleeding heart roots (Dicentra spectabilis) may seem odd but they are such a tonic for the soul come spring! These sweet flowers look lovely in the garden as well as gorgeous hanging from the rim of a vase.
- This bowl from Mud Australia has been on my wish list (hint, hint Bryce) for years. I just think the pale pink bowl would be a spectacular background for fresh greens from the garden.
- The New Romantic Garden by Jo Thompson is a book full of wildly romantic and lush gardens with the traditional aesthetic of an English garden but reimagined for the modern world.
- Rose Geranium balm smells amazing and is so soothing for dry winter skin, or skin that’s been beaten up in the garden.
Whether you buy yourself a little love gift, send something to a beloved friend, or celebrate with your romantic partner, I think it’s especially important now, in today’s chaotic, heart heavy times, to celebrate any time we get a chance!
