I would call our 2nd ever Peony Workshop a huge success because we simply couldn’t have asked for a better group to join us. They were all so lovely, enthusiastic, curious and creative! It has been a great year for peonies as cool weather is great for a slow bloom period. Therefore, the rows were looking so, so beautiful and then… it rained for two days straight. As I fretted and fretted, Bryce had to remind me more than once that no one expected me to control the weather.

The morning of the workshop dawned chilly and rainy so we moved all of the set up to inside the barn. We actually felt like it was a better set up inside, the biggest downside being that it’s darkish on the inside of the barn as there aren’t big windows! That made getting great pictures tricky for this amateur photographer, but trust me that in person the flowers looked gorgeous!

Fortunately, the rain stopped by the time of the workshop so we were able to walk to the field without getting wet.

After our field walk and talk, we came back to the barn for some snacks and drinks before getting to work on our arrangements.

Before we started working with the flowers, Gretchen took some time to explain her process of making her vases. Each attendee then picked the one they wanted to work with and got to work.

We are so thankful to those that came and spent a couple of hours with us amongst some flowers and handmade pottery. We had a grand time!
