I can hardly believe that Christmas has come and gone! I hope that however you celebrate, it was magical and special in your home. While it felt like the season was here and gone so quickly, there is always more I’d like to do, we managed to fully enjoy the season! Our house and property seem to really shine this time of year and so I thought I’d share some images of how we decorate using greenery…

We decorate the house with mostly fresh greens, some foraged from our woods, with an occasional fake mixed in. For instance, our staircase has high quality fake boxwood wrapped around it. For several years, we used fresh but discovered that it simply didn’t hold up for us and got very messy!

For our mantles (we have four!) this year, we kept it very simple using holly from our yard, leftover greens from the Christmas tree, and magnolia leaves. My favorite mantle however was in the den where we just put a swag of pine roping. I loved how simple it was. The tree next to the fireplace is a fake tree that we originally bought for the cottage, and guests that may be staying there. However, if we don’t have any guests we put it up to enjoy ourselves!

I also add greenery above our buffet table in the dining room as I love how it matches our Christmas china!

Our kitchen gets boxwood wreaths in each of the windows!

We also use greenery outside to decorate the doorway and we swag roping along our old stone wall. I just love white lights and during these days where it gets dark as early as 4:30, they really help to cheer me up!

Two of my favorite “greens” that we made this year were edible! For a Christmas gathering that we hosted, we made a gigantic food board with a rosemary wreath in the center. I just love how it turned out! Fortunately, the cold temperatures had not yet killed off my rosemary bush so we were able to get long enough sprigs to piece together the wreath. On top, we just bunched together olives, peppers and small mozzarella balls.

I also made these sweet miniature cupcakes that we piped holly sprigs on.

And last, but not least, we have wreaths on the barn and the chicken coop! I love looking out our kitchen window and seeing the wreath on the barn lit up!
